Widely known as California's signature grape, Zinfandel enjoys
the long and dry growing season of Lodi in the well-draining
sandy-loam soils of the Mokelumne River sub-AVA. This exotic
black grape has a unique tendency to ripen unevenly, leaving
some grapes to raisin on the vine before others reach full
maturity. It is this extended hang-time, which creates an intense
concentration of sugar in the fruit, that brings out the robust flavor
of the varietal while naturally maintaining some residual sugar.
